1972: Lal Trading Corporation is established
The business opens in Bangalore, selling reinforcement steel. The product was then known as Tor steel.
2019: Amrit Steels is formed
The next generation of partners, Rajiv Shankarlal and Amit Shankarlal, comes into the business. A new firm, Amrit Steels, is formed and takes the business over from Lal Trading Corporation.
Today: supplies running to 100+ projects
At any given time Amrit Steels has supplies running to at least 100 projects across Bangalore, big and small.
The firm name is new. The business model is the one that has run since 1972.
From Tor steel to TMT bars
We specialise in TMT bars, the product the trade once called Tor steel. Everything we supply today is Fe 550 or Fe 550D grade, ISI-marked and backed by test reports. Our guide to Tor steel and TMT explains what changed.
We stock JSW, SAIL, Vizag, Kamdhenu, India Gold and President.
Alongside TMT we supply structural steel, which covers angles, channels and beams, as well as MS pipes and binding wire.
What we do not sell
We do not supply material that is not approved to ISI grades. That has no exceptions, at any order size.

Our main office and warehouse are in the prime city market area: 20, Shanthappa Lane, Silver Jubilee Park Road, City Market, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560002.
Small quantities are supplied from this warehouse. Larger quantities are dispatched direct from the company or factory to the client's site.
